I can't get the thing to hook up if the rear is tight as you suggest. Dunno, I must be a weirdo... All the variables have to work together to make the right combination. If you have the right tires, making the rear stiffer than fronts will help tremendously. Remember I'm not saying you should make it as stiff as possible, I'm saying that it should be stiffer than the front.
